We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Of course, that was sung in my best typing voice! ;-)
It's that time of year again. Although, this year Christmas has snuck up on me. I'm at a bit of a loss this year. For those of you in the know around AMI, the templates and triggers are flying! Hehe.
Actually, it's going quite smoothly...well, except for when I started singing, "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas..." when I was out at the shops. It might have been ok when I was at our house, I guess. No worries now though… the swelling has gone down enough I can see my computer monitor again, and I've adjusted to eating through a straw quite nicely. I didn't realize a simple Christmas song could pack such a punch!
It's these small things that seem to just happen, and all of a sudden, you realize... I have a template that needs to be smashed! Now, dare I mention that I was swimming in our outdoor pool the other day? In December people! In my mind, these things cannot be! I'm from northern Minnesota. It's cold, and the snow is deep this time of year.
We sing songs like "Walking in my winter underwear" to the tune of "Winter Wonderland" in our best German accent, hehe. We go hard water fishing, also known as ice fishing. Snowmobiles are a normal mode of transportation. These things are "normal' in the world I lived in.
Now that I got all of that out there, some of my story might be just that, a story. I hope I got you to laugh and helped you to find some Christmas cheer! As for me, I will say hello to sunshine and broken templates...Here's to new family, new friends, new culture, and new traditions (templates), lol.
I may be way south of the border and across an ocean or two. But in all this difference, I have found some solace. To be honest, a lot of solace. Actually, it was easy to find as my mind was not stuck frozen in some snow bank! Ok, ok, so my mind still might be slow, but it's not because it's frozen!
The solace I've found is this... no matter where in the world I may be at the moment, Jesus is real. He is the reason we celebrate Christmas. So, no matter what the physical conditions are surrounding you, please share the love of Jesus with all your friends and family this Christmas season. Give the gift that lasts well beyond our lifetime.
Have a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year,
